Most of my career has been in operations management and in commercial facing roles. I started in aviation as an operations officer for Air Atlantique in 2006, have an MBA awarded by the University of Hertfordshire and am on the Board of the Air Charter Organisation. I am also engaged with both the CBI and the Worshipful Company of Coachmakers, an active livery investing in young people with a focus on engineering.

Richard Baker

Head of Operations

Function and tasks
I have overall responsibility for safety and regulatory compliance of flight operations at RVL. Our pilots report to me and it is my job to ensure that flight and training standards are maintained and achieved. I spend three or four days a week on the ground and try to fly myself at least once a week to maintain my skills. I started in the aviation industry in 2001 as a cadet with RVL’s forerunner company Air Atlantique, I have held roles covering most aspects of the company’s operations and started flying commercially in 2004. I have been the nominated person for Flight Operations since 2007.

Customer focus
I work closely with our customers to instil confidence about the conduct of flights and RVL’s capabilities which allows them to concentrate on their journey or the job at hand. My primary responsibility is safety and to ensure the flight team always performs in a compliant, efficient and effective manner to meet our customer needs.

Adam Sweeney

Technical Director

Function and tasks
I am responsible for continued airworthiness for the RVL operated fleet as Technical Director. My team and I are responsible for establishing, managing and fulfilling the aircraft maintenance programmes on all of RVL’s various aircraft types for both Part 145 and Part M, monitoring fleet reliability, ensuring regulatory compliance, working with aviation design companies regarding mission specific aircraft modifications, management of aircraft technical records and planning all scheduled maintenance events from a simple tyre change to a turbine engine overhaul. As the nominated postholder with the UK CAA, I am the appointed Continued Airworthiness Manager and Airworthiness Review Signatory for RVL Aviation and have the tremendous privilege of confirming that an aircraft is airworthy.

Customer focus
Through a combination of extensive experience with RVL types and strategic planning, my aim is to achieve the minimum amount of aircraft downtime and the minimum number of maintenance visits to maximise aircraft availability and utilisation without any detriment to dispatch reliability or flight safety. This is accomplished through comprehensive scheduling and extended fleet monitoring across a number of elements ranging from oil usage to engine performance parameters. Such a thorough and complex measure gives our customers the confidence that flights will go ahead when they need them to, and maintenance events are streamlined to be both efficient and economic.
